We arrived at the train station in Budapest and struggled with the currency, which we wound up calling kumquats. We took a cab to our hotel, the Gellert. Steve and Shirley wound up in The Nixon room, which produced peals of laughter. We took a boat ride on the Danube the first night and it was a good orientation. The next day we walked and funicular-ed up to Palace Hill. We watched some of the filming of Spielberg's film Munich. Of course we enjoyed many a meal. And we did lots of sightseeing. And examined lots of architectural details. All too soon it was time to rent a car and leave Budapest. |
